Challah - Ed's recipe
1 pkg. yeast 2
eggs
2 t. sugar 2
T. oil
1 1/4 c. water* 2
t. salt
4 1/2 c. flour
1 egg yolk 4
T. poppy seeds
*Opt. dissolve 1/8t. saffron or a few saffron strands.
Mix, knead, let rise one hour.
Punch down, let rise again.
Punch down, divide dough in three equal parts. Braid together and let rise.
Brush with egg
yolk and sprinkle with poppy seeds.
Bake at 375 Deg. for 50 minutes or until browned.
