White Bread (Better Homes and Gardens)

 

2 ¼ c. warm milk      2 T. sugar

1 T. oil                         1 t. salt

1 pkg. yeast (2 ½ t.)

1 c. + 4 ¾ - 5 c. flour

 

Mix the milk, sugar, oil, yeast, salt & 1 cup of flour with a dough hook.  Let sit a few minutes.  Mix in 4½ more cups flour. Add the rest if needed.*  Knead.  Let rise until doubled in a oiled bowl.  Shape into two loaves and put into greased pans.  Let rise again.  Oven 400 degrees.  Bake for about 30 minutes.

* On dry days you may not need all the flour.
