Almond (or other) Bonbons (From Betty Crocker)


1/2 c. butter                   1 1/2 c. flour

1/3 c. powdered sugar    2 T. milk

1 t. vanilla extract           1/2 t. almond extract


1/2 pkg. almond paste (7-8 oz) (or other)

Almond glaze


Mix butter and dry ingredients. Stir in liquid ingredients adding a bit extra milk if needed.

Sliced almond paste in 1/2" slices and cut each slice in quarters.  Roll paste into ball.  Shape dough about paste to make 1" ball.  Bake at 375 degrees for about 12 min. or until bottom is brown.  When cool dip tops in glaze.





Variations:  Shape cookie dough instead around:

- 2 dried apricot quarters

- Candied cherries

- Chocolate chips or Hershey's kisses

- Chocolate covered candied orange peel bits

- Nuts

- Malted milk balls


 Almond Glaze:

1 c. powdered sugar

1 t. almond extract

2 t. light corn syrup

Hot water to glaze texture (2-4 T.)
