Apple Cheese Torte

Crust:

1 c. butter

2/3 c. sugar

½ tsp vanilla

2 c. flour


Filling:

1 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese, softened

¼ c. sugar

1 tsp. Vanilla

1 egg


Topping:

3-4 apples, peeled and sliced

1/3 c. sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

2 T. lemon juice

Sliced almonds (optional)


Crust: Mix all ingredients and press into spring-form pan, bringing up the sides about 1 inch.

Filling: Mix together ingredients and spread on crust.

Topping: Mix apples with sugar, cinnamon & lemon juice. Arranged sliced on top. If desired sprinkle with almonds.


Bake at 450ºF for 10 minutes, then reduce oven to 400ºF and bake for 25 minutes longer.
