Sloppy Joes

1 lb. ground beef, browned and mostly drained
1 tsp olive oil, if beef is really lean
1/3 green bell pepper, minced
½ large yellow onion, minced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 Tbsp tomato paste
2/3 cup ketchup
1/3 cup water
½ Tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp yellow mustard
¾ tsp chili powder
½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
½ tsp salt
½ tsp red pepper flakes
¼ tsp black pepper
1) Brown meat over medium-high heat, using a little olive oil if very lean.
2) Drain most of fat, reserving 1-2 tablespoons with meat. 3) Add onions and bell pepper and saute until soft.
4) Add garlic and saute for 1 minute more.
5) Add remaining ingredients and simmer over medium heat for 15 or 20 minutes or until mixture thickens a bit.

14 cans Campbell’s condensed tomato soup. (1 can)
1 onion, chopped (1 T)
1 ½ cup brown sugar (1 T)
1 t. dry mustard (1/8 t.)
