Buttercream (Decorator) Icing
1/2 c. butter (use all Crisco
if must be pure white)
1/2 c. Crisco shortening
1 - 2 t. flavoring (vanilla,
clear vanilla or almond)
1lb. sifted confectioner's
sugar
A few tablespoons milk or
cream as needed.
With a mixer, mix in the
butter, shortening and flavorings. Add
the confectioner's sugar. Mixture will be stiff. Add milk or cream until you
get the desired stiffness. (Use very
little milk for decorator items, like to make flowers or complicated borders,
use more milk for icing cake and writing tips.)
