Pasta with Asparagus

12 oz. pasta (linguine)                      

water (to cook pasta, reserve 2 T. of pasta water)

1 medium onion, chopped            3 T. minced garlic

4 T. olive oil                               2 T. butter

1 lb. asparagus

4 T. white wine                           2T. lemon juice

4 T. parmesan cheese

 

Cook pasta according to directions on package. Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil and butter. Wash, break off woody ends of asparagus and diagonally cut into 1 inch pieces.  Add asparagus to pan with garlic and onion.  Let cook for about 2 minutes, stirring once. Turn off heat and add wine, water and lemon juice.  Mix with pasta and cheese.
